Stroud Green, 12 noon

Up to fifteen people blocked traffic on Stroud Green Road, Finsbury Park, for half an hour in protest against the prospect of war on Iraq, in an action to kick off the Stop the Blair War Project Day of Action in Haringey. Another 20 supporters stood around and leafletted passers-by. The police came and went. The W3 bus got stuck. And - as the picture below shows - peace reigned on Stroud Green Road upstream of the crossing!

Crouch End, 1pm

Some 20-30 adults rallied for 1 hour around the new Haringey Stop the War Coalition banner by the Clock Tower in Crouch End. They were joined by 15 schoolgirls from Hornsey School for Girls (with teachers in tow) who showed the adults how to leaflet!!! Protesters leafletted passers-by and cars. When the hour was over, the girls marched back to class carrying placards.
